Job Title: External Sales & Business Development

Location: Main office & warehouse based in Tettenhall, but this job would include travelling nationwide to meet customers.

Salary: £20,000 - £25,000 (depending on experience) + Commission/bonus opportunities
+ Business Vehicle (dependent upon experience)

About us: This job vacancy is a steel stockholding company owned by two European steel companies.With an office and warehouse based just outside of Wolverhampton, we currently service various sectors in the engineering industry by holding large forged blocks of various tool steel and engineering steel grades, and using our plate saw and band saw machinery in-house to cut steel pieces to the customers required sizes.

We are looking to develop and expand external sales and project work into new markets with new products nationwide, and in order to develop this - we are in need of a new external sales member of staff to join the team…

The applicant for this job role must have the drive, determination & resilience to make it as a successful sales person and thrive in business development.

The applicant for this job role should be able to create long lasting, solid relationships with their customers by being consistent, delivering on what they promise, and should be able to persuade the customers that they should place their orders with them.

Responsibilities include:

Developing a vigorous sales plan for the market that seeks to advance new business opportunities, whilst taking advantage of existing accounts, to increase the company’s turnover and profits.

Sales plans should then be adapted into targets and data bases should be created to record details of customer contact.

Acquire enquiries from new and existing accounts by cold calling, and arranging meetings with clients in order to identify their requirements for products and processing

Assess customer enquiries, and provide the customer with speedy and accurate quotations.
Observe daily sales performance, to ensure sales plan targets are met.

Monitor the growth of accounts.

Create forecasts from sales plans to help identify opportunities and maximise the profit potential
Follow through the progress of any order placed - and ensure orders are completed in accordance with their quotation.

Dealing with customer complaints. It is your duty to advise customers if there are any problems or delays with their order, and to solve those problems - so that customer is always satisfied

Analyse any lost orders that were not placed - so that you may be more successful for future selling opportunities and understand your competitor’s activity.

Review and deliberate with internal sales staff on a regular basis credit terms permitted of accounts to avoid any bad debts.

The applicant should be flexible within their role and be willing to help support other members of the team in their roles when necessary, including any general office and administration duties.

Person Specification:

*Applicant must speak very fluent English, as they will be communicating with customers daily*

•Full clean driving licence is required as you will be visiting clients throughout the UK

•You will be expected to be sales driven individual, preferably with some experience in a similar industry.

•The job demands a high level of self- motivation, determination, and a very keen attitude.

•The applicant should be a confident person with excellent communication and influencing skills, both face to face and over the telephone, will be vital to your success.
